The Friday Feast ~ the 11th of March
The personal finance community is filled with so many talented writers and inspiring families in search of something better out of life than the traditional society-approved plan of buying lots of stuff and retiring in your 60s if you're lucky.

Here is a look at the best of this week's personal finance blogs.

In this episode of Friday Feast: Wallet Hacks, FI Fighter, Heath Padgett, Coach Carson, Ditching The Daily Grind, Budgets Are Sexy, Patrick, Debt Roundup, Bare Budget Guy and Fervent Finance.

Welcome to Friday - today, my wife and I are on our way down to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for a little rest and relaxation after scrambling to get our home ready for sale and Airstream purchased. We need a little vacation.

On behalf of my wife and me, I'd like to thank everyone for your words of encouragement as we embark upon this massive, colossal downsizing of our lifestyle. This is going to be one exciting journey!

Let's start the feast off with Jim over at Wallet Hacks who wrote a post on Monday about maximizing your Costco membership. My wife and I have been Costco members for years and learned a ton from Jim's post.

Also, a big congratulations to FI Fighter who officially turned in his wings. Yup, he quit. And now, the rest of his life - and perhaps his true calling in this world, can finally begin. Here is his Monday-after follow-up, too.

My favorite post of the week

This was bound to happen eventually - my favorite post of the week is a post about RVing. Heath Padgett writes about six reasons why you should live in an RV in your 20s. Honestly, the "in your 20s" part wasn't a huge component of the article, but the meat of the article was absolutely sound.

The meat? RVs are affordable and flexible, allowing anyone to simply up-and-go whenever they feel like it, especially if they are either retired or work remotely. And the people that you meet out there on the road are simply amazing, and they come from all walks of life, too - from doctors to auto mechanics and everything in-between.

Heath already lives in an RV. My wife and I are just about to be. Would you ever try the RV lifestyle?

More from the personal finance community

So, are you an active or passive investor? According to Coach Carson, knowing the difference means more than you probably think.

Ditching the Daily Grind talks about embracing life's many seasons. "We purchased a 3,100 sq ft home (everything’s bigger in Texas), filled it with stuff, and were “living the dream.”"

Check out a wickedly to-the-point blog post by my man J$ at Budgets Are Sexy, who wrote about 29 quick money tips this week.

Lastly, a dude named Patrick blasts through some common arguments about buying vs. renting your home.

Honorable mentions: Debt Roundup talks about saving $400 a year while spending normally, Bare Budget Guy writes about a new job and reaching happiness, and lastly, Fervent Finance chats with us about lifestyle inflation.

    Photo of the week

This photo was taken shortly after I proposed to my wife in 2014 on the beach in Puerto, Vallarta, Mexico. Like I said early, we are on our way back for a little R&R.

We are on our way to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - where my wife and I got engaged!

Coming up in the week ahead on ThinkSaveRetire: On Monday, we're talking business in the Think, Save, Retire household and how our family dynamic strangely resembles that of a business! And on Wednesday, I am going to discuss how early retirement is about completing the circle of life and becoming a kid again. Because, well, nobody really enjoys "adulting".  :)

Thanks for reading, and cheers to another financially productive week ahead!
