The Friday Feast ~ the 19th of February
The personal finance community is filled with so many talented writers and inspiring families in search of something better out of life than the traditional society-approved plan of buying lots of stuff and retiring in your 60s if you're lucky.

Here is a look at the best of this week's personal finance blogs.

Hey everyone! It's already mid-February and my wife and I are gearing up to potentially make a huge purchase in the very near future. Will provide more details later if it happens. It's gonna be exciting!

We have a couple of retirement notices in the blogging airwaves this week along with the regularly-scheduled personal finance content from this wonderful community. Let's get right to it!

First, let's start off with an inspirational tale from Cheap RV Living who talks about his remarkable metamorphosis from a more traditional drone going through life to one who understands what makes him truly happy.

Retire Before Dad offers an interesting idea: Abandon your cushy job to expand earning potential. "Comfortable jobs usually come with an income ceiling. Only so much money is available for raises and promotions. Once a worker hits a certain level, raises flatten."

"Money can also be an illusion that’s created inside our heads", says Alyssa from Generation Y Retirement Account.

My favorite post of the week

My favorite post this week comes from Mr. Fire Station, who officially gave his resignation notice to his boss. That's right, he's done come April. Finished! Terminado! Finito!

And yeah, I'm all kinds of jealous.

"It was an epic day almost from the dawn’s first light.  A magical snowstorm came through our state, leaving ten inches of crystal white snow over the landscape.  We greeted the day as a family with buckwheat flapjacks, real maple syrup and a one hour “late start” to work and school."

Well done, Mr. Fire Station, and a big, humungous, monumental, gigantic congratulations!

More from the personal finance community

Stockbeard from How To Retire Early talks about the one financial fear that actually keeps him up at night.

Pretend To Be Poor talks about pretending to be warm after the bitter cold snap throughout the eastern U.S.

According to My Journey To Millions, you probably don't know shit about the IPO market, but don't worry, that's okay!

Honorable mentions: The Happy Philosopher reminds us of how simple life hacks can be, It Pays Dividends talks about why he invests in index funds, and lastly, Million in 10 says that investing can be scary, but....

    Photo of the week

Here is a photo that I shot from the 2015 Hot Air Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque, NM last October. This was an amazing event to attend - though very, very crowded!

Coming up in the week ahead on ThinkSaveRetire: On Monday I am going to dive into making sense of blogging statistics available through Google Analytics and talk about what numbers actually matter the most, and Wednesday will be the day where I discuss how overrated multi-tasking is and how much productivity we might truly be losing in the process.

Thanks for reading, and cheers to another financially productive week ahead!
