The Friday Feast ~ the 30th of June
The personal finance community is filled with so many talented writers and inspiring families in search of something better out of life than the traditional society-approved plan of buying lots of stuff and retiring in your 60s if you're lucky.

Here is a look at the best of this week's personal finance blogs.

In this episode of Friday Feast: Financial Uproar, Chris Reining, Financial Samurai, Northern Expenditure, Apathy Ends, PT Money, Mad FIentist, Physician on Fire, Retire 29, The Three Year Experiment.

Welcome to the end of another week. The Friday Feast is my opportunity to highlight some of the best personal finance content that I read during the week. Both old and new articles get mentioned here because I enjoy going through people's posting archives.

Now, on to the personal finance blogosphere!

First, Financial Uproar totally trashes the idea of college educations. Umm...agree? I've trashed them too, BTW!

And Chris Reining tells us why a $35,000 wedding is a dumbass idea.

My favorite post of the week

My favorite post this week comes from Financial Samurai who wrote about how to motivate yourself when the desire to be rich is gone.

"Being rich is pointless if your mountain of cash has no purpose," Sam writes. I couldn't agree more. Money for the sake of money is meaningless.

"It’s very easy to get used to a comfortable lifestyle (hedonic adaptation), even if you’ve come from a humble background. Since nothing good lasts forever, you should take advantage of your situation until it’s gone. Hearing other people’s stories of struggle and being aware of unemployment, poverty, and homelessness statistics will prevent you from taking your situation for granted. Count your blessings regularly."

    Love it!

More from the personal finance community

Maggie from Northern Expenditure has all kinds of numbers for ya in a serious knowledge-drop post.

And, Apathy Ends wrote recently about how to fail with any financial strategy.

Lastly, PT Money asks if there's such a thing as relying too much on "Future You".

Oh...by the way, did you see the podcast interview I did with the Mad FIentist?

Honorable mentions: Physician on Fire says drive a beater, get rich, Retire 29 talks about humorous consumerism, and lastly, The Three Year Experiment discusses location independence with, well, me!

    Photo of the week

As long-time residents of Arizona, we aren't used to natural bodies of running water. On our travels through Bend, OR, we got treated to some amazing displays of rivers, lakes and waterfalls - including this one.

Thanks for reading, and cheers to another financially productive week ahead!
