Budget February 2015 ~ The Shortest Month

  1. Looks like you guys are killing it, that grocery bill is impressive! I go a little crazy on conserving utilities and have done quite well with LED light bulbs and low flow shower heads. I was convinced the Mrs. was going to KILL ME for changing the shower heads to low flow, but they actually spray harder than before while using less water. I highly recommend looking into those, don’t feel so bad for leaving a light on or letting the wife take a long hot shower.

    Keep it up!

  2. Looks like a great month.

I just got done preparing our February report, and although I was aware of a big expense, I still didn’t like the fact that we had to dip into our cash reserve because we spent more money then we brought in.

Actually the sad truth is that we likely won’t save much outside of our retirement accounts until May. Because although we won’t have the huge $4,800 home improvement project, my wife has committed to some business coaching that will cost about $2,250 the next two months ($4,500 total). And then in April we have a $2,200 tax bill and car registration.

The good news is now that we have a baseline after doing this for two months. My wife and I have already outlined March and April, to try as hard as possible to keep spending at the very least at a break even.

Looking forward to saving $2,000 to $3,000 a month in our cash stash starting in May.

And man you guys are making us look bad with our $1,200 we spent last month on groceries and dining out.

We are going to try to only spend $500 total this month. So we will see how that works.

    1. Don’t feel so bad GYFG…this idiot broke the washer AND dryer at the same time by trying to wash a comforter that was too large. You want to know how to piss off a pregnant lady? Break the washer and dryer at the same time…thats how.

      Sometimes things happen!
