Is there anyone more iconic to the mid-2000’s than Kate Hudson? Seriously, she defined my late-middle-to-early-high-school days with her bubbly smile and affable spirit. I’m just really grateful I wasn’t old enough to get a tattoo of her most popular line in Almost Famous, “It’s all happening.” But, for Kate Hudson it really is all happening! Though she’s pivoted from a successful movie career to a life of domestic engineering bliss and business success, and she’s certainly still iconic to me.
Who is Kate Hudson?
As the daughter of Bill Hudson and the also-iconic Goldie Hawn, Kate Hudson is Hollywood royalty. With her legacy, it was a guarantee that Kate Hudson would never struggle for money BUT Kate Hudson also managed to find her own way in the world!
She launched her career with a streak of amazing (I may be slightly biased) movies: Almost Famous, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, The Skeleton Key, You, Me and Dupree, Fool's Gold, and Bride Wars just to name a few. She even won a golden globe and got an Oscar nomination!
After her streak of successful movies, Kate Hudson pivoted to becoming her own kind of lifestyle brand with book deals and a partnership with a major athleisure company: Fabletics. One of Kate Hudson's greatest assets is her big personality. Her confidence empowers her to take calculated risks and those risks have led to major credibility for her brand.
How did Kate Hudson make her money?
Originally, Kate Hudson earned her money through acting and modeling gigs, but she’s pivoted in the last decade to more product-based income. She has released two best-selling lifestyle books, which certainly help with her bottom line, but her money really comes from her 2013 partnership with Fabletics.
From its early roots as an ecommerce-only company, Fabletics now operates 22 retail stores and offers a menswear line under the label FL2. At one point, Fabletics was valued at $250 million. It's believed that Kate owns 20% of the company as of November 2018.
So, what is Kate Hudson’s net worth in 2020?
Assuming the $250 million valuation has held, Kate's pre-tax stake from Fabletics alone is worth $50 million. Combining that with her previous income from acting and her bestselling books, Kate Hudson’s net worth is $80 million.
What does Kate Hudson do for a living?
Kate Hudson is essentially an influencer for a living. Her warm personality is a major asset, and it inspires trust in her stamp of approval on a product. Banking on just her name and her infectious smile, Kate gets to design and share workout gear with her fans. She also has plans to return to acting eventually. Kate is slated to star in the film Music directed by Sia, though the production of this movie won’t happen until post-pandemic. So, for now, she’s hustling excellent workout gear and making millions doing it!
Is Kate Hudson a domestic engineer?
Heck yes she is a domestic engineer. With three kids, a partner (Danny Fujikawa, former lead singer and guitarist for the folk rock band, Chief), and a day job, Kate Hudson is domestic engineering with the best of them!
But, how does she balance her busy career with the needs of her kids? She told Women’s Health, “If I come in nine-to-five, do all my work, and shut off my phone, I can have a balanced life...I try not to let work spill into time with the kids, dinnertime, and in bed.”
Does that mean she’s never made a parenting mistake? Absolutely not. She’s not afraid to get candid about her parenting struggles, “I make mistakes all the time...I’ve yelled at my kids too much, and I’ve also cursed in front of them, and I also haven’t shown up for things because I was out of town. But at the same time, I have days where I’m like, ‘I’m a f*cking supermom.’ I am cooking, cleaning, doing homework, changing diapers, I worked out. What I’ve learned—and what I’m learning—is that I’m doing the best I can.”
Of course, judging by her childrens’ smiles on Instagram, she seems to be doing an excellent job at domestic engineering.
How can I make money like Kate Hudson?
If there’s anything we can learn from Kate Hudson it’s that it’s important to know your strengths, and know how to pivot! Stay flexible, capitalize on your personality, and don’t be afraid to try something new. Also, having famous parents can be helpful—though not entirely necessary. All you really need is a game plan and a winning smile!
